Book Review: The Book Lover Retreat by Heidi Swain

I am a big fan of Heidi Swain and this book was really good as usual 🙂

Emily , Rachel and Tori have booked a holiday to Hope Falls, a place which a film adapation based on a book they love was filmed. Along the way Tori had to drop out, and Alex replaces them.

This story flowed so naturally it felt like i was part of the group and experiencing the vacation myself. This is one of the rare times when i come across a guy who really love a book so much that he would go on the vacation to experience himself. But as we go deeper into the story, we understand why Alex was so adamant on going to this vacation. The relationship between Emily and Alex was also a nice progression. Emily’s own business, i feel in reality might not have such an explosion of popularity but hey that is why it is a story right? I really like Rachel because she is a supportive best friend, as what best friends are.

Overall, 4/5

Book Review: That festive feeling by Heidi Swain

I really love all of Heidi Swain books.

I love the friendship between Holly and May, even more than the relationship between Bear and Holly. It is so nice to see how Holly; who was resistent in having to do anything with the community , become slowly integrated and helping the community on the chapel project.

I love how May is always supportive of her and really treat her as her friend cum daughter , with Holly having parents who are against her career choice. It is really important for the child to have the parents support her choices as she grows up as it will influence her life decisions in the future.

Bear is a cute and sincere guy who is a stable character throughout the book. A he lives in a horsebox; he tries to convince Holly to live in a similar living accomodation . We can really tell how much he likes Holly as he supports her in everything in his own way.

Holly is a lovable character. The emotions she feels be it due to her career or relationship are so relatable! I was rooting for her as her confidence in her story accompanying her stories grew. I love the way she still decided to push on to write stories that accompany her sketches despite how her ex dismissed her writing

Overall, this is a cozy heartwarming read. 4.5/5

Book Review: The Summer Fair by Heidi Swain

This book was just superb and full of warmth and love and sunshine. It was such a cosy book and what made it even more special was her coping mechanisms and her regrets revolving about her late mum.

Due to the caregiving duties revolving around her mum, Beth had to give up her dreams of singing , and thus, she developed a strong aversion to music. Moving forward, she lost contact with Pete and The Arches, and made a move towards Nightingtale Square – a place full of lovely people with a gorgeous housemate , Eli. I wish my neighborhood was like that too , with garden parties, a close-knit community etc. Beth also worked at a caring home, and after being promoted to Activities Manager, implemented lots of activities that got the elderly residents excited and had something to look forward to.

Life has a funny way around things sometimes. The things that you wanna avoid somehow they would find a way back into your life. Though Beth avoided music for so many years, still she had to face it at work and home. Funny right?

Overall, this was a book that hit home due to some stuff.

I would give this book a rating of 5/5 🙂

Book Review : Underneath the Christmas tree by Heidi Swain

This book was just a perfect Christmas read!

The beautiful cover was an added bonus, and the story was very heartwarming, and moving. Liza, having made redundant from her job, has the intention to sell her shares of the Wynter Tree farm in order have the finances to start her own business. To do this, she decides to return to Wynter Tree farm (a place which she has avoided returning after her father’s accident) to discuss selling her shares with David, the partner who takes over and is running the farm. When she returns she meets David and Ned, David’s son, and is relieved that the farm is running extremely well under David’s and Ned’s care. However, David is soon retiring with the hopes of Liza taking charge of the farm with Ned , his son has been running the farm for the time being and Liza has to find a way to sell her shares as soon as possible.

I love the way the story was beautifully written. It touches on many friendships, the positivity, the romance and also the setting sounds very spectacular! I wish I could see it in person, especially the farm! It also touches on local markets and also the importance of family and love.

David, even though he was not the main character, i felt he was the man who was silently encouraging Ned and Liza to get together/to run the farm together. I really enjoyed the father-son relationship and also how supportive David was for Ned

Overall, i rate this book 4.5/5
